Dr Dorothy Conaghan is a board member of the International Music Council (IMC). IMC is an NGO official partner of UNESCO and is based in Paris. The Five Music Rights were first proclaimed at the IMCs General Assembly in Tokyo in 2001, and are inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR). This presentation takes a look at these rights and how they can act as an advocacy tool for musical artists and educators in Ireland and internationally.

Turas represents a virtual Ireland via music. It is a fast-moving, cross-media concert of traditional Irish music, song and dance which links music and photography.
​
The concert brings together the narrative power and subtle judgment of the the photographer’s eye and the aesthetic precision of musicianship. Following a theme of music and place, it uses photos and historic imagery to tell the story of Traditional music in Ireland and indicate its roots, regions, topography and topicality. A television-style documentary, it has solo, duet and group music representing all Irish counties and Diaspora regions as well as compositions of early and modern tune-smiths. This soundscape is warmed by song in Irish and English and accented by sean-nós, percussive step-dance.

9.00 - 10.30am SESSION: Good Morning Yoga with Mary Mulligan of the Dundalk Yoga Collective
​
Mary was introduced to yoga at a young age. She qualified as a Holistic Therapist in 1996 and first traveled to India in 2001 to study Ayurvedic massage and meditation. She lived in India for 7 years and explored many styles of yoga. In 2003 she went on a retreat to the Shivananda Yoga Ashram, there she decided she wanted to be a yoga teacher. After having three beautiful kids, she followed her dream by becoming a qualified Hatha yoga teacher and attaining RYT 200hrs status in 2014. Mary is also a qualified kids yoga teacher and has an additional 300hrs training with greenlotusyoga in Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Yin Yoga level 1 and 2 with Josh Summers. Mary has been teaching in the local community for the last 9 years, she took over the Dundalk Yoga Collective studio in 2016 and is so grateful and honoured to be able to share her love and knowledge of Yoga with her local community in this beautiful light filled studio.

Set in a peaceful environment, this session is led by an experienced instructor and accompanied by soft music, creating a serene atmosphere.
