Your Roots Are Showing
Your Roots Are Showing, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating folk music, has become a cornerstone event for the global folk, roots, and traditional music community. Founded by Charlene Sloan and Brendan McCreanor, two passionate Irish musicians and industry professionals, our mission is to bring the global folk music community together in a welcoming and dynamic space.
The conference was established to support Irish artists and to create an international hub in Europe for the folk music industry. We foster collaboration among musicians, artists, and industry professionals, support emerging talent, and create meaningful opportunities for the next generation. We are committed to preserving and evolving folk traditions, advocating for the folk music community, promoting education through workshops and discussions, and supporting well-being within the industry.
Embarking now on our fourth year, Your Roots Are Showing has rapidly grown into a highly anticipated annual gathering. The conference offers attendees an engaging program of professional development sessions, networking opportunities, interactive workshops, and exceptional live performances. Each year, we welcome a vibrant mix of local and international artists, industry professionals, and folk music lovers who come together to share knowledge, inspire creativity, and keep the melodies and stories of folk music alive and thriving around the world.
At its heart, Your Roots Are Showing is about sharing incredible music, keeping traditions alive, and connecting people through learning, stories, and the sounds of folk music.
Stay Folk

Each year, the event culminates in a Music Trail through the town featuring renowned musicians from around the globe, making it a highlight of the Irish music industry calendar. The conference hosts numerous panel discussions on pertinent industry topics, featuring a diverse group of experts including agents, label representatives, festival organisers, and artists.

Attendees have access to a variety of networking and mentorship opportunities, such as Peer Sessions tailored for agents, labels, festivals, and artists, along with speed meetings and artist mentorship sessions. Additionally, the Official Showcases highlight jury-selected, tour-ready musicians from various cultures and musical backgrounds. These showcases consist of 30-minute performances on fully equipped stages, providing artists with a platform to demonstrate their talents to an audience of festival and venue bookers, agents, record labels, DJs, media representatives, and others.
